Photography Gig :)

I've been pushed into the world of horses...and I'm liking it! I recently went to a instruction clinic which my friend was participating in, and got to photograph it. I learned more about horses in those 6 hours than I'll probably ever need to know, but it was fun non the less. I even got invited back to take more photos at more shows, and even potentially have my photos published in a magazine :) Here's some of the photos of the show:

New Friends

One of my better habits would be always having my camera with me in case of important events. Today was a good example of just how good that habit can be. After dropping my boyfriend off at school, I drove with my friend Tori to visit her horse Sophie. Initially we were going to feed Sophie mints, but I forgot to pack them..(oops). When we got there, Sophie was walking around with two other horses. The first horse, Evony, was Tori's mother's horse. She is very beautiful! Here's a photo:

Now, horses don't usually care for me, mainly because they know that I don't really know what I'm doing when I'm around them. They usually just turn their heads away from me. But today, something nice happened: I finally befriended a horse. I forget what the actual name of the horse was, but I called her BFF. BFF followed me all around the barn, and snuggled right up to me. Here's some photos from this epic moment (Photo credit goes to Tori):

Best friends.

Also, if you're into horses, Tori's mother publishes a great magazine that you should all check out: Rein Magazine. :)

PS. Forgot to include a picture of Sophie; the whole reason this day existed.

It's not the best, but she was too concentrated on eating for me to snap a nicer picture :)

Improvisations

I've always been keen on trying studio/portrait photography, and with limited access to an actual "studio" (or actual models for that matter) I decided to "improvise". My boyfriend amusingly watched me struggle for a good ten minutes while I created my "studio". Obviously, it was not large enough to host a model, so I scrounged around the house for some little random things to photograph. Here's some photos from my IMPROV SHOOT :) I think they turned out pretty well. Enjoy!

Introduction :)

Every blog needs an introduction, and I think it's best that you get to know a bit about the person behind the blog first.

My name is Brooke Nesbitt, and I am currently a Bachelor of Arts in Film student. I have been interested in photography and film for most of my life, and have won a few awards in both categories. I hope to someday become a cinematographer, or if that falls through I'd just be happy travelling the world with my camera. I'm recently transitioning into studio/portrait photography, something I'm just experimenting with in my basement. I love to meet/talk to people, so if you have any questions, comments, random stories feel free to send me a comment :)
